Monocoque construction with layered glass fibers. Two 0.8" poly A-wing fins. Calibre 139: 54.7" x 16.9". For riders over 160 lbs.

2011 CALIBRE WAKEBOARD 139

Thinking of buying a wakeboard?

Here at Hyper we have a massive range of wakeboards / packages for every skill set. So we have made a little guide to help you select the perfect set. First of all, a little overview on what you need to know when purchasing a wakeboard.

  • Height- Height is not a factor when your purchasing a wakeboard
  • This guide is intended for beginning riders. As you progress, skill level, riding style, and board model will definitely play more into your decision.
  • A beginner will find it easier to get up (out of the water) on a board that is longer because it has more surface area, but you want the proper size when you are riding. Example: Once you get up on a board, it's like riding a bike!
  • For a family board, look in the 135-139cm range, as it is the most common for all body sizes.

What Wakeboard size is right for you?

Up to 41kgs: 119 - 122cm length Wakeboard
Up to 46kgs: 121 - 124cm
Up to 50kgs: 122 - 126cm
Up to 59kgs: 128 - 132cm
Up to 68kgs: 131 - 136cm
Up to 77kgs: 134 - 140cm
Up to 86kgs: 135 - 142cm
Up to 90kgs: 138 - 144cm
100kgs+: 140cm +

Heres some more information on Sizing and Setting up your wakeboard:

  • Getting the proper sized wakeboard and bindings is very important when you are on the water. A wakeboard that is too big will feel heavy and hard to maneuver, while one that is too small will sink further into the water and feel somewhat unstable. Bindings are the most important part of your whole wakeboard setup. They are what give you the most comfort or the most pain. You want to find bindings that are not too loose and not too tight. We always tell people that you want them snug enough where your feet do not move around, but you don't want them too tight where your feet fall asleep within the first 10 minutes of riding.
  • Proper Stance on the Wakeboard
When it comes to mounting your bindings on a wakeboard, most people have never been taught the proper way. It is important to start off with a wider stance when learning, and then adjust it once you are comfortable on the board. The reason we start off with a wider stance is because it gives more stability. For most people, it will feel weird, which is why you learn how to get up and ride a little - then adjust it from there. Most people usually ride one screw hole in from each side of the board, and their stance is a little ducked out. By ducked out, we mean the feet are angled outward just a bit.
  • If you feel pressure on either or both knees, or on the outside of your feet, chances are your feet are parallel or straight on the board and you need to angle them outward a little more. Try wakeboarding with several different stances to find out what works best for you. Don't remain with your board set up the way it is because someone else set it up for you. You will find that a comfortable stance allows you to ride better.
  • How do you determine your ability level?
A range of wakeboard shapes are available to suit different ability levels. In general, anyone can ride any shape wakeboard as long as it is large enough.  Some shapes make it easier to learn, but a “beginner” should not shy away from an “advanced” board shape. Likewise an “advanced” rider will not necessarily be restrained by riding a “beginner” board shape. The most important factor is selecting the right size. Choosing a wakeboard is a personal preference and should be fun; pursue your curiosities about a certain shape and allow a propensity for a great graphic to factor into your decision.
  • Beginner-Intermediate
  • If you have never ridden before, ride occasionally, or are just beginning to cross the wake, check out the Beginner-Intermediate Wakeboards. In general, these wakeboards have continuous or mellow 3-stage rockers and tend to be priced for recreational riders.
  • Intermediate/Advanced
  • If you are crossing the wake in both directions and clearing the wake, take a look at Intermediate-Advanced Wakeboards. There is a ton of variety in this category, so make sure you read up on the wakeboard features below to understand which features compliment your riding style before you decide on a wakeboard.
  • Advanced/Expert
  • If you know how to spin, are attempting new tricks, stomping inverts or wakeboarding while juggling horseshoes you probably want to look at Advanced-Expert Wakeboards. In general, these wakeboards have aggressive continuous or 3-stage rockers and are less forgiving.  Advanced-Expert Wakeboards are often rider pro models. The bottom line is that these wakeboards are aggressive.
